Retha is originally from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, but has called Murfreesboro home for over 30 years. Prior to establishing permanent residency, Murfreesboro was her home away from home for a few years as she worked her way through MTSU to attain a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certificate. (In fact, her MTSU graduation was one of the inaugural events held in Murphy Center after its completion… yes, that was “way back when”!)

She was determined to go to college, so juggling full-time studies and part-time jobs became the norm for her. It was during this time that tenacity interacted with time management on a daily basis, a life-long partnership that has served her well. She has enjoyed a diverse employment history that includes many years in the classroom, as well as positions in administrative support, personnel and facilities management, customer relations, and marketing. Retha has been fortunate to work in challenging environments, both in the public and private sector.

She is at a point in her life where retirement is often the customary route. However, she is opting for a new challenge in her professional life and is quickly becoming a contributing member of the McKnight Advisory Group team as a contributing member of the McKnight Advisory Group team as a Financial Services Administrative Associate.

Retha’s personal life is richly blessed by an ever-increasing circle of dear friends – and among those are her three grown children. She says, “Yes, you can become friends with your own children!” She also counts it all joy to have six wonderful Grands who call her “Mimi” … which she says may be her most challenging position of all!
